Author, Sociologist, Sex Researcher, Professor

Alicia M. Walker, PhD is a Professor of sociology at Missouri State University and award-winning researcher, whose research focuses on intimate sexual relationships, sexual identity and behavior, and gender with a focus on closeted behaviors.

Walker’s next book, Always Wanting More: Love, Sex, and the Lives of Highly Sexual Women looks at women who self-describe as "highly sexual.” These women push back against the idea that female sexuality should be constrained, sanitized, or policed. Their stories—complex and unapologetic—suggest new pathways toward sexual autonomy and pleasure.

Her book, Bound by BDSM: What Practitioners can teach Everyone about Building a Happier Life, coauthored with Arielle Kuperberg, joins her two previous books: Chasing Masculinity: Men, Validation, and Infidelity and The Secret Life of the Cheating Wife: Power, Pragmatism, and Pleasure in Women’s Infidelity.

She is currently working on a sociology of sexuality textbook with Arielle Kuperberg, and a sociology of families and intimate relationships textbook with D’Lane Compton.
